This isn’t surprising. The way the system works – doctors can only pick one diagnosis, basically. They have books of codes and they must use those codes for procedures, symptoms, and treatment. Someone I know questioned whether or not they actually had the problem as it was diagnosed and was told that no further tests would be covered by insurance as a diagnosis had been made. The ICD 10 or whatever it is now is the bible doctors MUST USE. So it is easy to see how different doctors would pick different codes. Probably their favs or certainly those within their specialty. It’s sick- and not in a good way.
