Linkin Park – Friendly Fire

I went to one of the Projeck Revolution concerts (Jones Beach 2007) to see Linkin Park. They are, no lie, one of my favorite bands. After my Mom was killed I had this playlist that had lots of LP, lots of Chet bellowing his heart out. And me right there with him.

Chester Bennington’s death is so so so sad. His life had too much struggle. Way too many dark corners.

I suppose when Chris Cornell died by suicide, May 18, 2017 – Bennington gave up. From wikipedia.org

Cornell died by suicide on May 17, 2017.[81] Bennington commented on Cornell’s death on Instagram, stating that he could not imagine a world without Cornell in it.[80] Shinoda noted that Bennington was very emotional when the band performed “One More Light” in Cornell’s honor on Jimmy Kimmel Live![82][83][84] and Bennington could not finish singing the song during rehearsal because he started getting choked up.[85] The band was due to record a live performance of their single “Heavy” on the show, but Bennington decided instead to play “One More Light” after hearing the news about Cornell’s death, since the song is about the loss of a friend.[85]

On May 26, 2017, a week after his Kimmel performance, Bennington sang Leonard Cohen‘s song “Hallelujah” at Cornell’s funeral in Los Angeles.[80]

On July 20, 2017, at the age of 41, Bennington was found dead at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California.[86] His death was ruled as suicide by hanging.[87][88][89]

It’s hard to think about Bennington without having some sadness. And, of course, I’m reminded when I hear that pain in his singing. But enough of that.

Right now we have this new tune. Linkin Park has come out with this tribute video as the official music video for the never before released tune: Friendly Fire.

Friendly Fire was recorded during the One More Light sessions.
