Ken Block Has Left The Stage

It is with the heaviest heart, tremendous sadness that I sit here contemplating Ken Block’s death.

I met Ken 15 years ago when he and Alex Gelsomino participated in and dominated the Rally New York event in Sullivan County. I was Chief Marshall of the event and so I had an opportunity to speak to them on a few occasions. Both could not have been nicer, more gracious. By then Ken was already a superstar. I have followed his career and projects ever since. It’s hard to imagine a world without him in it.

Go fast and risk every thang.

That was Ken. The man had a need for speed. Today it was a snowmobile accident that got him. You can read the details here in a Motorsport.com article by Andrew van Leeuwen published Jan 2, 2023, 9:03 PM.

I got a bunch of the following posters signed by Ken at that particular, aforementioned, event and I remember giving one to a man who said his son was going to be crazy about it! He was so thrilled. I bet that kid, a man now, is feeling what me and millions of others are feeling right now.

I had mine laminated and it’s been on my wall for a very long time. He is going to be sorely missed.

RIP Ken.
