I’m a baby of the space program. It is part of my personal culture more than almost anything else except, probably, television which overlaps my space passion thanks to Star Trek. Most recently I finished The Expanse, OMG so goood! So imagine my pleasure in seeing that Buzz Aldrin has gotten married at the young age of 93! (Maybe there’s hope for me to find love after all! bahahahaha)

Roger Zelazny’s “The Chronicles of Amber” is being adapted for television!!!
If you haven’t read the Amber series and you love fantasy… you must. They are much beloved in my circles and it was an exciting moment when John gave me the news.
Stephen Colbert is joining the team that is adapting Roger Zelazny’s “The Chronicles of Amber” for television.
Colbert will now executive produce the potential series under his Spartina production banner. Spartina joins Skybound Entertainment and Vincent Newman Entertainment (VNE) on the series version of the beloved fantasy novels, with Skyboudn first announcing their intention to develop the series back in 2016. source

Does anyone pay attention to the Doomsday Clock anymore?
From the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, on January 24th, there was a press release that the Doomsday Clock is now set at 90 seconds to midnight.
“WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 24, 2023 –The Doomsday Clock was set at 90 seconds to midnight, due largely but not exclusively to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the increased risk of nuclear escalation. The new Clock time was also influenced by continuing threats posed by the climate crisis and the breakdown of global norms and institutions needed to mitigate risks associated with advancing technologies and biological threats such as COVID-19.” source
Some days it can be very hard to think we are NOT screwed.
POLITICAL STUFF: Classified Documents, Committees, XBOX
With regard to doomsday stuff… (we can be sure our politicians don’t pay attention to the DClock…)…
I would be remiss to not mention the classified document saga going on right now in the USA. When I was told by a friend that docs had been found at Biden’s property I said – check them all! Check Obama, Bush, Clinton…. all of ’em.
Today I read that Carter found some after he left office. So that’s Trump, Biden, Pence, Carter…. this tells me that the problem is the classification method and enforcement. I suppose that if Pence decides to run for office in 2024 then he, too, should have a special counsel as that seems to be the process. In all of this the only difference I see between Trump and the rest of them is that Trump refused to cooperate.
As long as I’m in to the Politics area let me get into what McCarthy is doing with regard to committee assignments. He has publicly defamed Schiff and Swalwell by barring them from the Intelligence committee because Schiff “lied” and Swalwell was in cahoots with Chinese spy. Here is the Axios article that the GOP uses to justify the claims against Swalwell. And what were Schiff’s lies? Well, here:

Meanwhile, because McCarthy needs George Santos’ vote he has assigned that lying liar to two committees. As an aside, isn’t it fascinating to see that someone who is such a proven liar is not held to account as a representative of the people. Well, maybe it’s not so surprising given how much DT lied. And still lies (will always lie) as we see from this claim he just won a golf tournament he didn’t even full attend (not the first time he’s been accused of lying about winning at golf games).
And lastly, wrt Committees, here’s the one about a COVID denier being assigned to the Pandemic committee. Yup, Marjorie Q Green. Their first order of business is to investigate origins (they’re going to go after Fauci) and restrictions. Gods help us. Read more in Politico.
